BUTTERFLY FAIRIES

About the Author/Illustrator: Marghanita Hughes
After moving half way round the world to promote my previous children’s book, I found myself falling in love with my new surroundings, British Columbia, Canada. With it’s sheer wilderness and it’s abundance of wild animals and insects it wasn’t hard not to be inspired. My Inspiration for my new children’s book characters, the Little Humbugs was a mix of the enchanting wilderness I found myself surrounded by, the large swallow tailed butterflies and dragonflies that frequented our park like garden/yard and watching our children dance and celebrate being with one with nature. The growing threat of Global warming and destruction of these magical forests so important to the cycle of life that I felt compelled to create positive role models for young children to be inspired to help protect Mother Nature… The Little Humbugs started to take form.
My love for fairies, led me to create a creature not dissimilar to a fairy but with human and bug elements.
The Little Humbugs are of course half human half bug hence the name. Being part human the Humbugs know that deep down everyone wants to have a
beautiful world to live in. The Humbugs know that the time has come to
show us how!
Unlike most fairies that are small and live at the bottom of the garden, these creatures are the size of a human child and live deep in the forests.
These adoreable, fairly like creatures, the Butterfly girls, are just like a typical seven year old girl accept for a few extras.
Like their antenna; which can help them hear for miles and their stunningly beautiful wings: which help them fly in and out of the most enchanting places. But the best part about being part bug, is that these caring creatures can talk to all the birds and animals of the great forest.
.
There is an abundance of adult literature on issues concerning the Global warming effects on our environment. However when I was producing my children’s environmental website I found a real lack of children’s literature for a young audience, most of what I found was quite heavy.
I feel it is important for children to have an insight into how their environment is important in their lives and how they can help look after it.
As a mother of three I felt compelled to create a series of book characters for my educational environmental website and books.
The websites are aimed at a young audience. Concentrating on simple
storylines and little environmental tasks that children can manage themselves.
Each Little Humbug character has their own story to tell about the benefits of looking after Mother Nature.
The Little Humbug series is to look at nature in a new and exciting way with the use of the colourful Butterfly girls and Dragonfly boys making contact with today’s children.
I hope you can share my concerns about the forests futures and would love to hear from anyone wanting to share any comments or facts you feel the website viewers would benefit from.
Warmest Wishes

Butterflies are found all over the world as so too are Butterfly Girls. There are Butterfly girls in every country known to man. You just haven’t seen them until now. They are visible only to the humans who care for the planet and can see that Global warming is having an effect on our environment and want to help the Butterfly Girls and Dragonfly boys all around the world.
(And don’t forget Babybee).
Our mission is to buy a forest for the next generation. To protect the very source that helps us to live on this planet. My fairy like creatures are here
to help our children help mother nature.
Together we can make a difference.
With every purchase sold a percentage goes towards buying as many trees as possible, creating our own forests for our children and their children.
I hope you enjoy these beautiful creatures and the journeys they take your children on and discover ways on how they can help the environment along the way in a fun and exciting way.
