About Us
David and Marghanita Hughes ran their design company in Scotland for over 10 years before starting up their own Media company 3 years ago. They won Best Creative Business 2004 and have their first animated TV series in production. Their work then took them half way around the world to British Columbia.
Life in North America took a little getting used to, but we all settled into the rhythm of life. The most noticeable differences were that most things seemed much larger than European standards, distances between cities, homes and of course motor vehicles.
As parents of 3 children and creators for TV content for young children we felt compelled to develop a project that would encourage children to get outdoors and take notice of what is happening to the wildlife, forests and our valuable green spaces.
We were fortunate to move into a property which had majestic soaring pine trees in the back garden. During our first summer we were amazed at the sheer numbers of large swallowtail butterflies and dragonflies that enjoyed the space too!
Our children played amongst these amazing creatures and seemed part of the natural setting, at one with their environment.Inspired by our own children and their love for nature and imaginative play, the Little Humbugs slowly evolved in our minds. The butterflies and dragonflies slowly morphed into childlike characters.

We have designed a brand that is appealing to both girls and boys and has a positive message with a stylish and contemporary look.
Global warming issues effect us all and although quite weighty issues for the very young, we felt we could deliver a very simple message to a young audience using our new characters the Little Humbugs.
Our new product the Little Humbugs are the link between the Natural World and the Human World.
The Humbugs have a mission, to get kids outside and thinking about Mother Nature- encouraging them to look after it in a unique, fun and enchanting way. Ultimately we would like kids and adults to work together embracing this human challenge.
Children are smarter, cooperative, happier and healthier when they have frequent and varied opportunities for free and unstructured play in the outdoors.

With Nature Deficit Disorder an epidemic in North America (a phrase coined by Richard Louv) there has never been a better time to get involved in making changes.
Together we can make a difference
