The Little Humbugs: The idea
The inspiration for the Little Humbugs grew from a desire to get children more interested in caring and thinking about nature, how our everyday choices have either a positive or negative effect on the natural world.
The Little Humbugs are designed to connect with children, creatures they will readily identify with and listen to the message the Humbugs bring. There is a rising awareness of the growing problems our world faces with global warming and deforestation. The time to act is now!!
While there are many great sites and programmes dedicated to an adult audience little of it is created specifically for children. The Humbugs will reach out and connect with children in an engaging, wholesome and innovative way.
"Never before in our history have children been so separated from nature." Richard Louv
The Little Humbugs project delivers a very important message to children in a unique and inspiring format. Through the charm of the characters it engages children to ask questions about the natural world that the Little Humbugs inhabit. Where do the come from, where do they live, why is their way of life under threat and ultimately they will ask can we help!! Well the simple answer is YES! very much so. We hope to encourage children to make more use of the natural green spaces that are on their doorstep. Get out and use it, appreciate it, care for it and admire the things that live and grow in these beautiful areas. These places are treasures, not to be ignored, passed by and never used. Take time away from tv or choosing to stay indoors and breathe the magical air that the trees and flowers gift us.
Children are playing less outdoors than previous generations, they are losing the connection with their natural surroundings.

"Get outdoors and enjoy these magical places"
As parents ourselves we derive great pleasure in seeing our children playing outdoors. Our childhood memories are of woodland walks and forest picnics.
Lying on the grass, imagining shapes in the clouds and endless hours
of make believe battles, mermaid adventures and dancing
butterflies. Climbing trees, riding our bikes, collecting pine cones and playing hide
and seek was all part of a days fun...
We believe the future lies with today’s children. If we can get
children interested and excited about taking care of nature, just
like the Humbugs do... then planet earth has a better future.
Climate change is the biggest threat to the environment.
With forests disappearing at an alarming rate,
it is time to take action.....NOW!
